Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be aka 'Yesterday'
Ah yesterday. The morning started early. I was going to play hockey with my boss and some of his friends. They closed the rink. I should've taken this as a sign to go home and get back in bed. Everyone was in loverly Monday moods that morning and I got into a friendly tiff with the receptionist. She seems to think girls aren't as cut out for sports as guys- which I still think is hogwash!
The afternoon was...mmm...special. First a co-worker who was filling in for my on holiday housemate basically told one of my new volunteers that she didn't want her. A little fast talking on my part hopefully has kept her interested. Next the afternoon receptionist (Catholic quebecoise) and cleaning lady (Muslim) got into an argument about religion/Israel + Palestine. Hooo boy. I'm not really so good at diffusing the religoius 'debates' (ie prejudiced yelling matches) in French. Then crazy Amir from the kitchen started going on about the propoganda of Swiss food to Caroline (from Switzerland) and she was telling him to just put his sins on Jesus and everything would be okay. When Amir started to rant with OCD Sigfried about the difference between ghosts and the Holy Spirit, and telling him that Buckingham Palace is haunted, it was time to go home. Thank goodness for Upstairs Sara, we had a nice little 45 minute coffee/sanity break in the morning, the highlight of my day.
